Spewing Falsehoods and Ignoring the Record

By Eric Siddall

Once again, Opportunist Candidate Gascón is spewing falsehoods. Ironically, what he titled “Jackie Lacey’s Lie-Laden… TV Performance” is itself a lie.

Gascón claims that Jackie Lacey opposed SB 10, bail reform. Actually, she helped rewrite the bill that was passed by the legislature and signed into law by Governor Jerry Brown.

Her revisions turned a flawed bail reform into a law that took into consideration public safety and victims rights. These changes were so substantial that the chief criminal defense lawyer for San Francisco changed his position from support to oppose.

Gascón assumes that he can obscure his record with rhetoric and that progressives will just fall in line. We are here to provide the truth — whether it’s on his failed leadership in San Francisco or on Jackie Lacey’s legacy in L.A.
